Nursing (Dual Enrollment AAS/BS)
Major Code: 2373The Nursing Dual Enrollment program incorporates our current AAS program and RN-to-BS program into a streamlined, dual-enrollment pathway. The intent is to offer students an integrated educational experience that progresses from general education through RN licensure to baccalaureate completion.
Program Overview:
- Year 1: Students will be dual enrolled in both the AAS and BS programs. During this year, they will complete the required general education courses.
- Year 2–3: Students begin their nursing coursework. Upon successful completion of Year 3, students will earn the AAS degree and be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN.
- Year 4: Students will complete the remaining upper-division BS coursework and earn their BS in Nursing degree.
Key Clarifications:
- The AAS degree is conferred at the end of Year 3, contingent upon successful completion of all required coursework.
- Licensure as an RN is required prior to starting upper division practicums in NURS 450 and NURS 481.
Admission/Progression Criteria:
- HS GPA 87.5
- Placement in Math 102 (Generally need HS Algebra and Geometry with grades of 85 or better or HS Algebra, Geometry and Algebra 2/Trigonometry with grades of 75 or better for placement into Math 102)
- HS Science: Biology and Chemistry required with a grade of B or better
- Minimum GPA: 3.0 for transfer students
In year one, students must complete a minimum of 30 credits from the courses in the plan, achieve a C+ or better in A+P I and II, and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better to advance to NURS 120. This ensures that the student is ready to progress to the nursing courses in the dual enrollment program.
Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA to progress in the dual enrollment program.
