Management, Leadership and Organizational Studies, B.P.S.
Major Code: 3265Prepares students for management and leadership opportunities in non-profits, governmental agencies, public service organizations, and various businesses. It allows students the flexibility to pursue specific interest areas related to their career goals. The interdisciplinary program includes leadership, ethics, communication, and decision-making coursework. The program includes foundational academic preparation in management and leadership coupled with applied learning opportunities tailored to the student's professional interests. The degree is designed for students looking for a bachelor’s degree with significant program options, adult students with prior college credits looking to complete a bachelor's degree, and students seeking flexible program options consistent with a wide variety of career pathways. Students will complete their final semester of study engaged in capstone internship experiences with the support and guidance from faculty and field supervisors.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Exhibit appropriate written and oral communication skills consistent with effective leadership style and expectations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of tenants of effective leadership and organizational structures through assessment and analysis.
- Develop specific recommendations and solutions, supported by data-driven analysis, to enhance organizational operations.
- Develop organizational strategic plans, which identify market-informed sustainable goals aligned with relevant assessment metrics.
- Exhibit knowledge of strategies to assess and promote ethical leadership practices for diverse organizational structures.
All SUNY Morrisville BPS degree programs require completion of at least 30 credits of SUNY GE, a minimum of seven (out of ten) knowledge and skills areas (including the four required knowledge and skills areas as indicated below), and completion of the two core competencies.
